Senior Citizens’
Fun Day at the Fair

Come to the Chowan County Regional Fair, 2013 “Celebrating 300 Years of Agriculture”.    Thursday, September 26 is Senior Citizens’ Fun Day, FREE entrance for person 65 and older.  The fair is at the American Legion Fairgrounds, 1317 W. Queen St.  There will be 1000s exhibits, demonstrations, shows and so much more. Come out Thursday, enjoy this year’s fair.

New Strawberry
Diagnostic Tool

An interdisciplinary team of  NC State College of Agriculture and Life Sciences extension specialists have created a new, mobile-friendly, database driven tool to help strawberry growers visually diagnose disorders. The new Strawberry Diagnostic Key provides a way to filter by visual characteristics to identify problems. Results include details about the disorders and possible management strategies. The Strawberry Diagnostic Key was developed with funding in part from the Strawberry Sustainability Initiativethe Walmart FoundationUniversity of ArkansasSouthern Region IPM CenterNorth Carolina State University Cooperative Extension Service and the North Carolina Strawberry Association.
