Collapse ▲We are excited to announce our lineup of 4-H Summer Fun workshops! In-person registration will open at 8:00 a.m. on April 1st, 2024 at the N. C. Cooperative Extension Office – Chowan County Center (730 N. Granville Street, Ste A, Edenton, NC 27932). No registrations will be accepted prior to this date. Spaces are limited, so registrations will be accepted on a first come, first served basis.
To help expedite the registration process on April 1st, you can download and complete the Summer Fun Registration Form or you can stop by the Chowan Extension Office to pick up a copy. 4-HOnline enrollment, Summer Fun Registration Form, and payment are required for registration to be complete.
Participation age is based on age as of January 1st, 2024. Youth must have been 5 years old on or before January 1st, 2024 to participate.

CHOWAN COUNTY 4-H SUMMER FUN 2024
What’s the Buzz? Beekeeping Bootcamp
Date: June 10th
Time: 9 a.m. – 3 p.m.
Age: 8 – 14 years old
Location: N.C. Cooperative Extension, Chowan County Center
Cost: $15
During this workshop, youth will learn about honey bee anatomy, pollination, and honey production. In the afternoon, the group will travel to the BoC apiary. Taught by the Beekeepers of Chowan County. Bring a bagged lunch.
Plant Peeps
Date: June 12th
Time: 9 a.m. – 12 p.m.
Age: Cloverbuds (5-7 years old)
Location: N.C. Cooperative Extension, Chowan County Center
Cost: $15
Explore the diverse world of plants, soil, insects and much more through this hands-on session.
Introduction to Pottery (2 sessions)
Session 1: June 17th, 20th, 9 a.m. – 11 a.m.
Session 2: June 17th, 18th, 20th; 1 p.m. – 3 p.m.
Age: 8 – 14 years old
Location: N.C. Cooperative Extension, Chowan County Center
Cost: $25
We’re standing on clay! You’ll learn about the art of pottery, making pieces with the “pinch” technique.
Jr. Chef’s Cooking Camp (2 sessions)
Session 1: June 24th – 26th
Session 2: July 15th – 17th
Time: 9 a.m. – 12 p.m.
Age: 8 – 14 years old
Location: N.C. Cooperative Extension, Chowan County Center
Cost: $25
During this hands-on cooking experience, youth will learn about food and kitchen safety while incorporating Chowan County agriculture into their meals.
Mini Jr. Chef’s Cooking Camp (2 sessions)
Session 1: June 27th – 28th
Session 2: July 18th – 19th
Time: 9 a.m. – 12 p.m.
Age: Cloverbuds (5 – 7 years old)
Location: N.C. Cooperative Extension, Chowan County Center
Cost: $20
Youth will prepare healthy meals and explore foods grown in Chowan County during this introductory workshop.
Floral Design Fun
Date: July 9th
Time: 9 a.m. – 12 p.m.
Age: 11 – 16 years old
Location: N.C. Cooperative Extension, Chowan County Center
Cost: $20
In this hands-on workshop, participants will explore flower identification and color theory as it relates to flowers.
Peanut Butter Jelly Time
Date: July 11th
Time: 9 a.m. – 1 p.m.
Age: 8-13 years old
Location: N.C. Cooperative Extension, Chowan County Center
Cost: $20
Youth will prepare a peanut butter and jelly sandwich from scratch by learning how to make fresh jelly, homemade bread, and peanut butter.
