Collapse ▲April 1, 2015 12:00 p.m. The “Basic SKYWARN” class covers all the background information needed to become a trained severe weather spotter. The class is free of charge and lasts about 2 hours. All materials are provided. Once trained, spotters play an important role in providing the National Weather Service with vital weather information when severe weather occurs.
