Use this guide to plan a fall vegetable garden. Select what you want to grow (Hint: look for the teal colored E in the months of September and October). How much space will you need? Do you have a sunny spot in your yard that is near a water source? If not, you may want to consider How to Create a Container Garden for Edibles.
Tip: You will receive a soil sample kit in the mail later this week. Use a non-rusty tool to dig at least 4 inches deep in at least 4 locations around your lawn. Mix the soil together and place in the provided box. Fill to line. Do not tape or staple the box together – use the provided tabs. Complete the paperwork. Return your completed sample and paperwork to the nearest Extension office OR mail directly. The service is free but you will have to pay for shipping if you choose to mail directly.
